    Best LGA775 cooler?

I've ordered a Titan Vanessa-L for £30 (inc. VAT & Shipping) Will this be able to cope with my processor at 4.00GHz do you think? It idles in low 50s at this clockspeed and can get into the 60s when running a game (stock cooling).

    First Intel build

You can preorder them on Overclockers.co.uk and pay the small price of £763.74 for one. But I think they have already been released. They have only released the Extreme Edition - puts people off and makes us buy the Core 2 Duos as zeus said.

    First Intel build

Well there's the Core 2 Quadro out also. The extreme edition at least.

    PC Shutdown / Restart

My PC can handle lots of open windows. Photoshop, iTunes, Firefox (with many tabs open), MSN messenger and often some other things at once. The PC is fine now, I've lowered the overclock to 3.60GHz (from 2.66GHz it was at 3.70GHz) and it appears more stable - with my new PSU the temperature of...

New PC - What to get?

Well the Intel Core 2 Duo processors are the best around, and don't set you too far back on your budget. How does this sound: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 - £150.39 Motherboard: Abit AW9D-MAX Intel 975X - 138.64 RAM: GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC2-6400 - £93.99 Hard Drive: Seagate...

Why don't you look at the bottom of the old CPU and compare it with the new one. They should look similar.

    World of warcraft payment

I've just bought the game, it's on its way. What's the cheapest way to pay? Are the 60-day cards cheaper than paying on the WoW site?

    PC Shutdown / Restart

I ran PCMark05 last night, it completed everything successfully. That really gives the PC a tough time doesnt it? 100% usage on both cores at one point. Ill try memtest tonight. And I do use firefox, have done for years, I wanted to have a look at IE7.

    First Build Advice

Not really anything worth improving to be honest, that's a killer system and should be able to handle anything you throw at it with ease. nVidia have just released their first DirectX 10 graphics cards. Able to play the next generation PC games. But they are hugely expensive, and DirectX 10...

    PC Shutdown / Restart

I've been overclocking my system ever since I got it. At first I had a Chieftec 450W PSU (bad quality) - this deteriorated over time, and my PC started crashing. I bought a second hand Hiper 480W - it's been brilliant, but today my PC has started crashing again. I immediately reset the BIOS - no...

    First Build Advice

Best bang for the buck is the E6600. I doubt you will notice a difference between an E6600 @ 3.0GHz and an E6700 @ 3.4GHz And I don't think spending $100 more on 400MHz is worth it.

    First Build Advice

The best method is to press DELETE or F1 after the startup *beep* from your PC. (DEL / F1 depends on your motherboard, but it will tell you which to press). In here, you can change the CPU speed by increasing the bus speed - leading to an increase in your CPU's clock speed. It's very simple to...

    First Build Advice

Thats a nice system, but you are wasting your money by buying an E6700 (Core 2 Duo). The E6600 is far cheaper in most cases and can easily be overclocked to reach the same level as an E6700. You are basically paying for a slightly higher clockspeed, which can be achieved anyway with the lower...

    Sony Comments on Backwards Compatibility

Backward compatibility I suppose has to exist, but personally I never played a PSX game on my PS2... The step up in graphics is so large that you spend your time drooling over the new stuff and just forgetting about the old ones.

    components for new build

Thats a good setup, the only things I would say are: - Get a PSU of at least 450W with 30A or more on the 12V rail (i.e. 15A on 12V1 and 15A on 12V2 - if there are two rails). - The x1600PRO is not the most up to date graphics card and will struggle with newer games. What is your budget too...

    First time!

I can play Battlefield 2 on full, I've got 1GB of RAM and an nVidia 6600GT. But when I get into the game it can give me a couple of seconds of lag before it calms down. I would recommend 2GB but you can always upgrade at a later date. 1GB is enough, but 2GB would give you a smoother ride with...
