    Hi everyone!
I have installed a second drive on my windows 98 machine and have received the following message when partioning the drive:
ESS PCI Dos device driver, version 2.10h (c) ESS technology, inc, 1994-1998. All rights reserved SOLO. Loading NAVDX, please wait: Invalid media type reading drive D abort/retry/fail.
    thanks Elsaluno.

What are you using to partition and format the drive? What drive is it?

It is a 3 GB Maxtor hard drive. I am using FDISK to partion the drive. I have a 10 GB master running windows 98. The 3 GB is set as slave, but everytime I reboot the system that message comes up. I hit scape the system boots up.
    thanks.

ok, here is what I would, I am sure there is a better way though!

it looks as though the system is trying to boot off the second hard drive first, then the one you already had, thats why it works!

anyway, make the 3GB HD, primary, use a Win 98 bootdisk (floppy) to start the system, then format the drive, and then FDISK!

I am sure the problem here it seems is that you haven't formated the 3GB HD, before you tried FDISK, so you won't have to go through all of the above!

    hope this helps :)
