Let's just do a quick conversion of this

3000eur is $3 919 and about 2000 pounds


So yes, I want to get me a new PC, I’m not a very good hardware techie so I figured you guys (or girls:) ) could help me out. The PC should be a very good gaming machine.

Please no Ati's or Intel's
Also, 2gb ram should be a minimum
and more than 250 gb space
also Win. Aero should run on it at all costs

Not intel? Intel currently happens to be the most potent gaming chip wen combined with a evga 680i SLI motherboard, and an nVidia graphics card (or two).

Although the price difference is quite wide, i still recommend buying the intel system.
 
So basically Intel combined with an SLi motherboard is better? (Sorry I have to ask, but my friend happens to be an AMD fan)

Right, one more thing, apparently Europe is getting ripped off the PC market? So would this PC be cheaper in the US? And how could I buy such cheaper products/or parts in Europe at a US price.

I WAS an AMD fan, now I don't care what brand my CPu is, I just look for best performance at best price, I heard the core 2 Duo's beat the latest AMD CPu's by 33% and are 40% more energy efficient and cost £50-ish less.

In fact, unless AMD bring something new out at a realistic price, I am sticking with my plan of a Core 2 Duo, and that one you got recommended, the 2.6+GHz one, I have been told its a VERY good CPu

nope, the core 2 duo is definitly better, mainly because AMD have not brought anything new out for a long time

Ok, Intel it is.

Can somebody suggest another list of PC stats that I can buy with my money? And what each component costs?
So an Intel CPU, and I guess an nVidia GPU? I heard something about an nVidia XFX GeForce 8800 GTX, that good?
Oh and can somebody explain to me what SLi really is?
Also how to I get these products at original price IN central Europe?
 
i dont get teh surplus in prices because of where u live, but the list i gave you, is the best i can think of concerning the back per buck you can get.

also, for the monitor, you can replace that with another western digital raptor X for 300 gig of storage in raid 0 :cool:

OH, how i love talking bout SLI,
you can read everything here
but just for an overview, SLI is a technology where you can put two graphics card into one system for improved performances.
Note: SLI doesnt make your games faster, it merely helps you system to cope with the game's highest details. overall, it makes your games playable at teh highest settings.

At US prices it should be about $3100. Can somebody check for UK prices in pounds (I have quite some friends in the UK so shipping to Slovenia shouldn't be a problem). Though I don't think that would be only $3000 would it?!

the prices wer in pounds. around 1900 pounds excluding vat.
also, the processor is an intel core 2 duo 6700 not 6400 unless you want that instead.
 
Just one more suggestion, if u have a plan to buy windows Vista in the coming future to play dx10 games then u will need one more 1GB RAM stick jst for Vista... Coz it requires lots of RAM to run properly....

So can you get this (no VAT) plus an Intel 6700 and 1x more 1gig ram stick. For under/exactly 2000 pounds?
 
you hav already got 2 gig of ram, which is more than sufficient for vista, (and you can only get the RAM in the list in a 2gig pack so if you buy another set, u get 4!)

Oh true...i didnt see that u r buying one stick of 2GB, i thought u r jst going to buy 2x1GB....
If this is the case then yea, buying a stick of 2x1GB RAM will be good...
@Roy, I said this coz if he wants to play heavy graphics games like Oblivion then he will run out of RAM on Vista.... But if he jst wants to run Vista and some small games then yea..its ok!
