Only thing I know see is the difference is Thermal Design Power,

The TDP is typically set not to be the most power the chip could ever draw (such as by a power virus), but rather the maximum power that it would draw when running real applications. This ensures the system will be able to handle all applications without exceeding its thermal envelope, without requiring a cooling solution for the max theoretical power.

Does a higher TDB then indicate it is better for overclocking?

Strange I think is that when comparing both product on Ebuyer and neither AMD's site itself doesn't list a code name to identify an AMD Atlhon deriviates like San Diego or Newcastle either, that might've been the price difference, although +/- $ 5,- seems rather small for a different model.

I checked this out when I first saw the post, the revision of the CPU is exactly the same. The difference really is only the thermal desgn power.

After looking into it further lots of the AMD processors are like this.
Of the K9 Processors the sky939 Athlon 64 X2 4400+ and AM2 Athlon 64 X2 3800+, Athlon 64 X2 4000+, Athlon 64 X2 4200+, Athlon 64 X2 4400+, Athlon 64 X2 4600+, Athlon 64 X2 4800+ all have difference thermal ratings but the same revision and stepping. The voltages are slightly different, but this usually is another cause for a change of revision.
 
If you're looking to build as silent PC as possible or overclock, the 65W version would be helpful. Otherwise, the 89W will do. If the prices are identical or nearly identical, the 65W is a better pick, but I wouldn't drop more than about $20 more for a 65W. That's just me, and your needs/wants may be different.
 
According to the specs provided, the 89W runs cooler... all of 2*c in it but hey :P

the 65w is £5 more, about $10

silent it allways good, but cool (temp) and power are what i care about (ive even decided to try out a hdd cooler).

should be ordering 2moz morning... im upto £685.87 :P

all AMD PIB's come with a heatsink dont they? i thought that was the whole point of them but i cant see any indication of a fan included other than a over sized box! lol

oh, and for the sheer crack of it im gona have 2 dual layer DVD±RW/RAM Drives (16x)
