I have built two computers, they have the P5N32-SLI Deluxe and P5WD2 Premium motherboards, each has Lan 1 and Lan 2 ,
I use Lan 1 on each for cable internet. What can I use the Lan 2 on each for. Is this for hooking the two computers together to share programs and files and if so what cable is appropriate for this also what other uses for these.
Thanks for any info on this , I see nothing in the MB supplied manuals on this.

Not totally clear what you're asking.

How are you sharing your cable internet?

I have a cable modem connected to a router and each computer is connected seperately to the router .
I guess what I am trying to ask is what is the purpose of each computer for having two eithernet ports on the motherboard.
Thanks

You should only really need LAN1, as its connected to the router you're computers are already networked together if you've configured it. LAN2 can be used in some situations where you want the computer to connect to 2 different networks. E.g. connect directly to cable modem and use the other port to network with other computers. There are many uses, but since you aleady have a router you won't need the extra port.

Thanks, That makes sense. Do I set it up in windows xp or the router, or both...
