Do I need to go wireless as present set-up is not working - keeps cutting off.
I have only been on Broadband for a couple of weeks. I was so looking forward to it but am very disappointed that it just doesn't seem to work. Only stays connected for a few minutes and then I get " TalkTalk Assist and Go" saying it needs to diagnose my connection. This takes anything from 2 to 10 minutes! Most frustrating when I in the middle of posting something!
I have had a telephone engineer in to look at my system and he says it looks ok and should work. I have also telephoned TalkTalk Customer Services and been told they cannot see any problems - have I cleared the cookies lately!!!! ( but of course I have).
It has been suggested that as my only incoming telephone line is downstairs in the hallway and my computer is upstairs in the back room that this might be the problem and it might help if I get a wireless router.
I am considering this but might I still keep getting disconnected because it seems pointless to pay about £100 for this equipment if it doesn't resolve the problems. Also, do I need an electric supply near router. Friends says you don't need an electric point as telephone socket is all that is needed. I thought I would need electricity too.
Would be very pleased if somebody could advise. Thanks
