Hi there,
I've just upgraded my computer, and I'm having trouble getting my video card to operate at AGP's 8x speed. Currently, it's set at 0 and I can't get it to stay at 8.
I'm running the following system:
ASUS A7V8X-X mobo
AMD Athlon XP 2500
500mb of Kingston Value RAM
500w power supply
Soundblaster Live! Value (current drivers)
Radeon 9600 (current drivers)
When I go into the SMARTGART(sp?) tab of the Radeon's options, I can move the slider to set it to 8x. Also, the quick draw option is always defaulted to "Off" and I am unable to select "On." If I click the "Retest All" button, the Quick Draw turns on. If I set the AGP to 8x the computer then tells me that I have to restart the computer for the changes to be tested, and to take effect. When I restart, though, the AGP setting is always reset to 0.
The board has an nVidia chipset on it, but I am not sure how to disable it in the BIOS settings.
If anyone can help me out with this, I'd appreciate it. My brother-in-law had a similar problem, and he finally gave up and just bought an nVidia card--I'm not really willing to go that drastic.
Thanks in advance
