cant start my PC!

i was attempting to change some ram details and changed the Dram, i think i mistook it for another type of ram. well it had 4 setting 200(standard) 166 133 and i think 100, i set it to 166 to see what happens and now i cant start my PC, can anyone help, i would really apreciate it, even a reset button on the BIOS config would be cool, but idk where to find it! thanks
 
Most (if not all) motherboards have some sort of jumper that one must short out in order to reset CMOS settings. Check your motherboard manual and it should say. With mine, I have to take the pin from the 1 2 jumper out, wait 5 seconds, put it in the 2 3 jumper, and then put it back into the 1 2 jumper. This seems to reset BIOS settings. Check the manual though.
 
what if i dont have a manual for my mobo, i dont believe i got one with my PC, i bought it through ibuypower.com where they built it, but where are these pins located? or the jumpers etc.
 
Ahh indeed. Ok, I was just looking at my own. Here's what it looks like:

It's a line of 3 little metal pins together in a line.
The first and second pins will be covered by a plastic thing.
That plastic "thing" is what you'll need to switch from 1st 2nd pins to 2nd 3rd pins and back.

What build is your mobo? You should be able to find an online manual for it. Unfortunately, it seems that this 3 pin line is located at different places on different mobos. Good luck, my friend. I'm off to bed. :P
 
omg, thats exactly what i needed, i found the pins by looking at site and it told me how to reset BIOS, but it was exactly what u said, it was near the battery, thanks
 
Heh, no problem. Glad I could help you out. I know I've had to do the same about 5 times...I've had some bad computer problems in the past...
 
Heh, well, my father and I just LOVE to mess around in the BIOS. It's like an extreme sport for the rest of us! You're lucky you haven't been down that road...sigh...though it seems that you've gotten your 'puter up and running. Long may it last! Wanna borrow Citizen Kabuto? ;)
 
Heh, I'm good thanks, I'm playing about 6 games at once right now dumb as it sounds:) I may not have had to deal with jumpers and whatnot but today I got a little too extreme with my overclocking and after a BSOD my computer would power up (as in fans running) but no post. I had my pangs but I figured if I gave it a while to cool down I'd be okay. Fortunately it was and I'm back in business, whew.
