From what I understand a Centrino is a revamped Pentium3, which definately outperforms a P4 at the same clock speed (just about everything does). I don't know about Opterons or other AMD64s, though.

I think the M performes even better.
If I remember a previous thread (somewhere in here....) correctly.
But I could be wrong (it does happen once or twicw a year.....)

To have the Centrino name = PentiumM Processor + Intel Wireless + Intel Chipset together = the processor being labeled as "Centrino".
So don't be fooled by it. A Centrino is purely a Pentium M.
Also, it's proven that the Intel Celeron M processors perform better than the Pentium M processors. Also the Celerons use: 20-25Watts of power, where as the Pentium M use's 50-65Watts.
Get a Celeron M not a Pentium M.
Keep an eye out in this forum, i'll be posting an article proving Celeron M's Vs Pentium M's = Celeron M is winner.

You can buy a good Pentium 3 for pennies these days! They are great for college projects etc
