    Hi folks
I recently had really bad disk corruption. XP did not come up even in safe with dos prompt.
I had to install another OS and I ran checkdsk /R. It ran 5hr but fixed large number of files in windows directory.
Interestingly, checkdsk /F did not report any problems.
Norton Safe & restore recovery disk was reporting application error. But later I was able to restore an immage from that same CD. What it had to do with corrupted files on drive itself?

I have 1 yr. old Toshiba sata drive which is according to postings is one of the best on the market.
Any diagnostics I run now do now show any sign of problem. Should I still consider replacing this drive?
Is there any utilities which may determine the state of drive when it's operational but prone to errors?
