hey guys jus wonderin currently im changin my processor from

Intel Pentium 4 2.4C Northwood 800MHz FSB Socket 478 Processor Model BX80532PG2400D - Retail

to

Intel Pentium 4 3.0E Prescott 800MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache Socket 478 Processor - Retail

and when i boot it up, the video signal is off nothing shows on the screen, even tho the power hooked on the monitor and the video card properly.

do you guys know why?

Without knowing what your computer has under the hood, I can't say for sure, but I do have a few guesses.

-The motherboard does not have the correct BIOS release to recognize the CPU. While this should simply display an unknown CPU error, there's the chance that it's unable to boot.
-The motherboard is not built to handle the Prescott core. Due to the design of the Prescott, it uses more power than the Northwood core and not all motherboards are able to handle it as far as Socket 478 goes.
-Your power supply is insufficient to power that CPU. As just mentioned, the Prescott demands more juice than the Northwood core. If your power supply isn't up to snuff, then you could be in trouble.

My suspiscions lead me to think it's likely to be one of the last two or a combination thereof. The prescott wasn't designed with Socket 478 in mind, which is where you have LGA775 come into the picture. Of course, you'd need an LGA775 prescott Pentium and the appropriate motherboard to facilitate this.

But, without knowing what you've got, I can't say for certain, so if you would be so kind, tell us what you've got in your system and we can give you a better direction.

Yup, your board doesn't support pesscott cores :(

The BIOS update readme says Updated CPU List but doesn't tell you which ones it addresses. It might be worth emailing Intel and asking them if presscott is Supported in the update.
 
If you cant boot up, there could be one of two problems, your CMOS battery might be dead (in which case replace it) at a cost of about $2/£3, available from any hardware / electrical / diy / battery store.

If that doesnt work then your only way of getting a new bios is to get a new bios chip, im not sure about your board but if it has a replacable bios chip you can buy a new one online with a working and updated (latest) bios version on for about $15/£10 online, just flick your old one out and place your new one in. But be careful when your doing it, the area surrounding the bios chip is very delicate. You'd probably be better off if this is to advanced for you to buy a new version of you board, they are relatively cheap.

i forgot to mention that my previous cpu is broken ( missing 2 pins ), so i cant get to the updates, what should i do now? should i get new cpu and return this one or get new MOBO? , if i get new MOBO, can you guys recomend me a new one? i need 2 SATA tho
