So, i have a laptop, an HP Envy 15, and i've been plugging in an hdmi cable into an hdmi-to-dvi converter to connect it into this monitor, and everything has worked perfectly for several months, but randomly a couple days ago it just stopped working together.

I get this error, there is no signal coming from your computer. I'm pretty sure my laptop isn't detecting it, for some reason. I plug my laptop into another monitor, it works fine. I plug this monitor in from another computer, it works fine. But for some reason, the two won't work? The monitor knows when the laptop is plugged in, because when it's not plugged in, on the screen it tells me it's not connected. When I do plug it in, that message goes away and it just goes into sleep mode.

Any quick tips? I don't want anyone thinking too hard, I just can't figure out what to do anymore at this point and I just wonder if it's a quick fix or if it's just some weird voodoo going on.

I have seen that kind of problems. usually solutions are to change adapter or display. So first I'd try another adapter. Even if adapter is workinng with other parts, that can help.
