Hello forum people

I'm currently bussy picking my part for a pc I'm going to build.
I would like to have your opinion or tips.

At the moment I'm using a dell studio XPS laptop (i7 1;6GHz, 4GB RAM, and about 4 years old). I finally have some more space available so that's why I'm looking at desktops again.

This build will be mostly used for Gaming (no suprise there) and light graphical applications.

Any tips are welcome, budget is around the 1.000 EUR

Bolded parts

2. Buy z87 board instead to get better overclockability.
3. You want gaming = you buy faster video card.
5. i5-4670K is better choice.
6. ATX case with low profile cooler?
9. TLC is still unproven technology and MLC is better.
10. Western digital green is slow HDD. Buy something 7200 RPM instead.
11. Mediocre quality PSU.

Other parts seem to be fine.

Dam, I thought I did a better job :)
Well we're here to learn I gues, thanks for the tips so far.

2. I'm not planning to overclock my processor, I'm on a bit of a budget (1k EUR)
3. The games I'm willing to play are like GTA IV, empire total war, ... (couple of years old)
6. I thaught that I wouldn't realy need a non-stock cooling as I wouldn't be overclocking, does this improve your preformance or lifespan that much ?
9. I'ts my first SSD, think the opinions about TLC and MLC are 50/50, considering my budget I'll think I'll stick to the Samsung 840
10. Might indeed be a good idea to go to a faster model (I'll look into this)
11. Wattage looks ok to me, what can I improve ?

2. Considering small price difference, there's no reason not to overclock. You will plan overclocking after couple of years when rig is not "new".

3. For those games cheaper CPU is OK altough GTA IV PC version is very bad.

6. Intel boxed coolers will shorten CPU lifespan. I also do not recommend Haswell chips because they run very hot because Intel spared 1$ putting cheap thermal paste between core and heat spreader. Both have same purpose: shorten CPU life.

9. MLC is better than TLC. MLC is proven technology while TLC is not. And if TLC is not even cheaper, I cannot see why TLC is better choice.

10. It is, 7200 RPM discs are much faster.

11. Quality is not good enough. Where are you buying?

Corsair has been sliding in the PSU department, so as much as I love my HX520, I can't recommend their current offerings. Seasonic, or anything that uses Seasonic as it's base is going to be a good bet. Silverstone, Thermaltake and Antec (skip the Basiq line) are other good options. I don't know your plans for expansion down the line, but a 500W unit might not fulfill that if you would move to a multi-GPU system down the line (SLI or Crossfire). 500 W will be fine now, but attempts to expand may be limited.

I ran across this thread in another forum click me!
