The only way around it I can think of is... Drown it, and never buy an IBM again...
On a more serious note, some PC manufacturers are very stubborn when it comes to modifying what they've sold you. For example, a new bios could possibly be a modded bios with overclocking features, and manufacturers don't like you getting more out of your PC than they've already given you. They want you to buy a new laptop/PC instead.
The only solution might be to flash it back to the previous bios :( But there are some bright minds on here who might be able to tell you otherwise :)
