In several Forum systems (hardware related, anyway) I've seen that there are major vendor icons under the users avatars. That could be interesting.
Like, you could add the option for users to choose the vendor for the CPU and/or GPU (and maybe not only the vendor, but also product-specific things - Core 2 Duo icon would differ from a i7 icon).
