How Do You Do This (Or Can You)? WiFi - Ethernet

Hi guys, I was wondering if this setup I want to do is possible, and if so, how.

Basically, I have a dsl modem in my basement with an ethernet cable that supplies internet going up to my kitchen. It plugs into the back of a router (wireless + 4 ethernet ports) as the internet line.
The router then broadcasts that internet to all of the computers that are connected wirelessly or via ethernet. My kitchen computer is hardwired to it via a cable, but I have three other computers that connect wirelessly.

Now, the issue:
I have another computer (desktop) that has an ethernet port, but no wireless. I want to put a device upstairs to "catch" the signal given off by the router and convert it to ethernet which I can plug either directly into the computer, or into a switch.

if you want to connect multiple computers up then what you need is a wireless access point Newegg.com - wireless access point you can then connect to it using the ethernet cable or alternativly you can buy a wireless usb adapter Newegg.com - wireless usb adapter if you only want to give one computer access.

Thanks for the reply. Can what you are talking about actually "catch" wifi and create a network from it? Basically, is there a device that will receive wifi signals and output that signal as ethernet? Thanks again.

no, if you already have a WAP i don't think it's possible to create a second ethernet network from a wireless signal because an ethernet connection is faster than wireless, so, if was possible the ethernet connection you created would only be as fast as the wireless connection, it would be far easier to get the USB adaptor that Sniper suggested and use your existing or extend your ethernet connection to the location of the system you want to add
