So the drive does not show up in 'my computer'?

I belive WindowsXP includes all the drivers you would ever need for a floppy drive... so i belive this is a hardware problem (For once nothing to do with windows :p)

Most Floppy drives when they stop working are still recognised by the operating system, but you get errors when you try to use it (cant write or cant write or read!) so it *could* be the cables.... or the drive is completely knackerd!

I would check that the power cable for the floppy is connected securly, and that both ends of its ribbon cable are firmly connected!

the FDD may have become disabled in the BIOS, try re-enableing it, also check for viruses & spyware (a virus could have disabled it)

    EDIT: please donĀ“t double post
