Lite-on vs. Plextor

I'm currently debating on if I should get one of the new Lite-on 40x cd-rw drives or another plex 40x drive.

I've been using Plex's since the 8/20 series and they've been fairly dependable so I'm wondering if anyone has used a Lite-on drive and can comment of their reliabliity.

The Lite-on drive is looking fairly nice with a $125 lower price tag and more capable burning support but as I've never used one in the past I have no idea how dependable they are so if anyone can give some feedback on any of their drives I'd appreciate it.
 
I'm sure I've built a PC for someone recently where I used a Liteon CD-RW, and it appeared very good.

I have read a lot of good things about Liteon drives in general, even though ppl at work place tend to scoff at the unknown name...instead going for Compaq of all brands!!....what's that about??.....

Considering Liteon make Sony DVD drives that seems a touch strange. :spin3:
 
Plextor also makes Lite-ons. Just another way to make money. They are cheaper, but just the same drive with a different silk-screen, if any.
 
Hmm I thought Lite-on made drives for Lite-on, especially when they're an OEM supplier and are using there own BURN technology or were Plex making them for them in the past?

Anyways to answer my own original question if the reliability of this drive is anywhere near the Plex's I think a certain company is in for some rough times. I love finally being able to back up SafeDisc 2.51 stuff so I don't have to worry about scratching the originals :D.
