The Mandriva developers have released the first (and probably final) release candidate of Mandriva Linux 2006: "Mandriva Linux 2006 RC1 is here!" The long release notes provide all the details, including information about fixes to printing, authentication, boot loader, look and feel, networking and the usual RPM package updates and rebuilds. You're probably right, it's likely that very little will change between this release candidate and the final build. I've been running 2006 since beta 1, and it's incredibly fast, responsive & solid. Doesn't feel like a beta at all, so this release is shaping up to be a good one. -AT
We had some 2006 RC2 DVD's floating around, but it doesn't look like the mirrors are carrying them. Regardless, the content is the same.
