mobile phones and cars!

hehe, got in a taxi yesterday only to be stopped by the police cuz the driver was on his mobile! Which is against the law in the UK but you can use a hand free kit!

It kind of makes the point, cuz if the driver wasn’t on his phone he would have seen the police car!!!

how are the laws else where?

Here in Newyork, in certain hours of the day and if one has a customer sitting, even hands free cell phone is not allowed.
Under rest of the conditions one is allowed to use hands free only. Under no condition one can use a cell phone without hands free.

It's a pain to try and drive with a cell in hand, so I don't. Then again, I really don't even use my cell now. I'm sure there are some laws, I just haven't been up on them.
