hey guys i need help in getting a new PSU and video card. i have a HP m776n
with 300W power supply and integrated graffics. My motherboard is a
Asus P5LP-LE.

for graphics card, you can upgrade to any graphics card that has a pci-express slot. Take note that theres a difference between pci express and AGP.

for PSU, you can get basically any 24pin ATX power supply.

yes i know all that its just that i asked for help at HP and they said that i cant upgrade PSU. because the motherboard would overheat.:(

that sound like crap to me, if the mobo and case are both ATX compatible (ATX 2.1 is the latest i think) you can upgrade your PSU, but HP saying "an upgrade to the PSU would overheat the mobo" is bullsh1t, when upgrading the PSU make sure the mobo & case are ATX compatible[ot]don't believe everything HP tells you[/ot]

Edit: BTW: a PSU will only supply the amount of power required until the system reaches the PSUs maximum output, then the PSU may go to the big electronics store in the sky, on occasion if a PSU dies it can take other parts with it, but if you have a decent PSU it is less likely to die in the first place

BTW: check out Bs PSU Sticky

the power supply that im going to buy doesn't have a 6pin connector it has an 8pin and the video card that i want to get doesnt come with the power connectors either were can i buy the cords?

if my motherboard is micro-atx can a ATX PSU fit and work properly with my system?
it should, but, is your case ATX 2.x compatible, although if your current PSU is micro ATX, your case should be ATX compatable

As long it's a 24pin ATX PSU, it will fit[
roy, the 24 pin PSU was introduced with ATX 2.1, however, ATX 2.2 & ATX 2.1 doesn't appear to have much difference, although i haven't researched this yet

anybody, please correct me if i'm wrong

idk how to post pictures here
well, the 2 main ways are to display a file to a post

just under the writing area

and after you click "manage attatcements", this winndow appears

then click browse and select the file on you computer then click "upload", then the attachment will automatically be displayed under tha post

the other main way is to use an online image hosting website like Photobucket, both ways are very easy, just copy the code that Photobucket provides after uploading your image & paste it into HWF where you want to add your pic

attachments appear like this

Edit: please see second attachment to see the file types supported

my computer is sorta messy.:chk:

you should see under my desk, it looks like a rat's nest with all the wires, and that look a lot like my system (with the side off) but it works, cos i'm typing this

yes it looks like a micro ATX, how many connectors in the cable between the PSU & motherboard ?

Edit: it looks like mine especially with the HDD sat in the bottom of the case

when i get my new PSU im gunna need a 4-Pin power adapter cable for 6-pin pci express video card.
i don't actually know, cos i've never used PCIe (i'm on AGP X 8) however, i think one will be with the new PSU
