So I am very familiar with computers. I can put one together, I know how they work, and back in the day I built a machine with pops that ran an old school AMD atahlon 1800 XP+ - it was def. ahead of its time.

Anyways, a lot has changed since then and I am sure I could throw something together. But I wanted to get some advice on building the best machine possible in around a $1500 budget. I would like to use it as a media server as well as be able to play the latest games.

So far I have though about running the follow, and that is about as far as I've got. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...16501&ef_id=UqJVbwAAARA3a6kg:20131209212204:s

Main Boot Drive: http://www.atdcomputers.com/proddetail.asp?prod=mz-7te500bw

So far total cost is around $775

I was also thinking of running a 16GB Ballistix Kit 1600Mhz that I found a deal on. Is this memory any good?

I am also having trouble picking a video card, I know this can get expensive, I want something that will perform well, but I do not need to spend a whole lot on this either. Looking for a good performing middle of the road option.

Thanks!

Buy newer LGA1150 motherboard and processor (i5-4670K). LGA1155 moherboards are also crap, do not match even 3 years old AMD boards. Samsung EVO uses crappy TLC NAND cells. It's not even cheaper than MLC drives so pass it also.

I think you will manage with 8GB RAM.
