What is this thign about DualDDR memory thing, doe sthi mean it is better to have two seperate DIMM chips, say 256 x2, rather than one, 512 x1??

yes it means it is better two have 2x256mb than 1x512.
let's say you have pc3200 memory, instead of having a transfer of 3200mb/s(3.2gb/s) you will have a transfer of 6.4gb/s.
this is due to the 128-bit controller. in a time span, twice as much data can be transfered than with the normal 64-bit controller, which is "normal" ddr.

It is definitely better, especially if you use an nForce 2 platform with the integrated video. On the flip side, you won't cut your memory performance in half by going with only 1 stick. The nForce2 dual-channel controllers don't require that both be filled, like most RDRAM systems and Intel's new Granite Bay chipset (E7505).
