noparse tags

what do the noparse tags actually do ?

i've looked on net, but, all i can find that it does is enable other tags to be visible, is that all it does ?[ot]i can't understand why anyone would want to make other tags visible[/ot]can someone please explain

you answered your own question, the only reason I can think of is to use it to show examples on how to use the tags.

e.g. [noparse]

$var = 'hello world';

[/noparse]

upon closer inspection of your reply (quote) you ended your reply with a close quote tag, why ?

i personally didn't think you needed to, unless you mean, including the noparse tags makes your forum reply ignore the last close tag
