Nvidia Rumor Mill

I'm not sure if any of you have been following this, but Nvidia is obviously under a little bit of strain with Intel's high speed interconnect, and AMD chipsets. There has been a ton of rumors swirling around that Nvidia and Via would join forces and try to get into the processor morket, while Nvidia would leave the chipset market. (obviously while making their own chipsets) Like i said, this is all just speculation at this point, nothing even close to concrete, but i was wondering what your guys' thoughts were.

Whatever happens... change is good. CPUs and GPUs made by the same ppl and made to work together doesn't sound like such a bad idea... though could they ever catch up to Intel's and AMD's standards?

i dunno, like i was saying, all is speculation at this point. It would make the market much more competitive though, obviously as there are only two choices CPUs. Yeah, i think that came up in one of the article though, it would take a lot of doing on Nvidia's part to make something up to par with what Intel and AMD already have. Lastly, i think Intel would win out in the end here, Nvidia would have to pay Intel for a x86 license, as well, i doubt AMD nor Nvidia would let each others cards work on their boards, while Intel allows both, at least as far as multiple card set-ups go.

At the moment consumers have two choices either Intel or AMD but then you have to make a choice on what GPU company you going to side with and then you have to make a choice on what mobo you need so things get a little complicated with compatible issues. so now i'm being told that their might be another major player in the CPU and GPU market making more choices and a headache to the consumer trying to make sure that the products he brought are compatible.

Anyways in my opinion if this is all true i don't think Nvidia have even the slightest chance of succeeding in taking on the might of Intel and AMD put together and they will be destroyed trying to fight two fronts at the same time (GPU + CPU Markets), few years from now the Nvidia logo will be in a museum and ATi will be drinking the bubbly after a very long war.
