after i finished putting together a recently built pc...i turn it on, 2 seconds later, it turns off, 2 seconds later..it turns on, 2 seconds later...it turns off. this process repeats over and over and does not stop. i have never seen this before. i think its a pin on the mobo that is causing it. i have 2 pictures for you to see, i have tried bending the pin back myself, but its proven to be difficult for me to do. i have done it before, but i cannot do it with these. this is an LGA775 socket. i am unsure if i have caused this when mounting the basic heatsink/fan unit on the cpu. i did struggle with mounting, i have never mounted a basic one before, its always been one that is 3rd party, like scythe or what have u. i didnt SPECIFCIALLY if the pins were all fine. but i know i seen it obviously while i took the plastic piece of the socket, and before mounting the heatsink/fan. so yeah...i have already RMA'ed the mother board, because i cannot fix this pin, and obviously the computer will not work with this pin like this. when i glide my fingers over the pins slightly and softly, this pin literally pokes my finger , its like above the other pins, i dunno how it got like that. so what im asking is... ( sorry for the long explanation ) do u guys think this is why the pc was turning off and on ever 2 seconds? i had the board outside the case and hooked everything up. while it was doing this, i noted the behavior of the pc. the cpu fan came on for the 2 seconds, the psu fan came on, and the led came on from power. spin, stop, spin stop, perfectly in sync with the pc turning on and off. i disconnected one component at a time after flipping the switch on the psu. first one stick of ram, then another stick, same. dvd rom, same, hard drive, same. nothing else to try. i am convinced its the pin that is shorting something. i will be recieving a replacement board soon. any help from you guys i would love , be sure to tell me what u think about the pictures. thx
