I have had problem with my machine for a while now.

During start up it reaches a certain point then does a number of different things;

1).Turns off completely so i have to press the power button to start again

2).Resets itself and returns to the beginning of the start up process

3).Stays at a black screen with the power still to the machine and doesn't go any further.

It has on occassion turned off during mid session but this has only happened a handful of times.

The spec is as follows:-

Abit KD-7 Motherboard (not KD-7 RAID)
AMD Athlon XP2600+ 2.08Ghz
DDR333 Samsung RAM 2x1GB
Radeon Ati 64mb Graphics Card (AGP)
IBM Deskstar 60GB Model No. IC35L060AVVA07
Window XP Pro 2002 (official registared copy)
PSU CTK Model: LC-B350ATX Output: 350w

Bios Temp and Voltage Readings

CPU surface Temp - 36*c
CPU Core Temp - 48*c
CPU Fan Speed - 2360rpm

CPU Core Voltage - 1.66v
I/O Voltage - 3.29v

AGP - 1.53v

I also did have a PCI graphics card in it to run two monitors but this has now been removed (i had the problem before this was removed)

I have checked the Capacitors on the motherboard they all look clean and fine. i have also tried different memory and graphics card.

Hope this is enough info!

If you have another power supply, I would suggest trying that, I've seen bad PSU's generate errors like this. I can't say this is definately the problem, but it's definately worth checking.

Thanks,

The beep code seems fine, one short beep just after power up.

I will try a different PSU just as soon as my mate gets back of his holidays later this week. Then report back

Thanks Again

seems that clearly psu and cooling is the problem

starting up with a 44C mobo, whooo keep it cool, go buy a thermaltake 12cm case fan and change the stock one if you got, even go buy one more for the front panel

and a new 350watt quality brand psu will make you continue your ride

pci cards may not be working without problems when two monitors are connected if it didn't make any i can just say you are too lucky

but it is clear that a fully upgrade is coming for you not by wish, but you gonna have to
