Problems with Virgin Media

Ive recently got a new ISP with Virgin media and am connecting through a Linksys WAG354G.

The cable I have for my line is a co-ax cable and therefore does not plug directly into the back of my router.

I am using the modem that I recieved from Virgin and connecting it to my router through an ethernet cable.

However this is not working and im not entirely sure why.

I mainly woundered if it was actually possible to use this setup with a modem plugged into a router and then a pc into the router.

Thanks for any help

:confused:that is a combined router & modem with wireless, but yes as john said you can use it like that if you want to connect more systems without using an Ethernet hub (more than 4, 1 on each Ethernet port)

BTW: its far easier to add an extra Ethernet hub if you want to supply broadband to more systems, rather than piggybacking routers & modems

Edit: personally i'd only use the router

The reason why this is not working is becasue you're using an ADSL Router, you will need to buy a cable router like this.

Hi, you may have solved this but I just thought I would let you know I am a Virgin broadband user. I connect just like you, the cable from the wall into the back of the modem however I then have that plugged into a BT, yes BT router, which is then connected to my PC and for wireless access so it is possible.....you just have to check your routers settings.
