recording software and graphics

hi,nice to be here.ive got a problem.i run a guitar recording software on my pc.i have all the specs up to date ,pentium 4 3.0ghz 2mb ddr ram,the problem is when im recording my music the graphics of the recording studio break up at times.for example;the dials and meter at the botttom of rec studio end up in the middle with bits missing.i have a packard bell 1307 pc imedia.someone said to me get an agp radeon 9550 256mb graphics card.would this sort out the problem?the sound is fine.ive got the agp slot in pc 8x/4x mode support.agp 3.5 and 2.0 compliant.any help would be welcome.thank you.:confused: :confused:
 
Packard Bell iMedia PC's have an awful tendancy to have rubbish graphics cards as standard. Ones that can only just run a DVD at full framerates etc. - I recently quit my job working for their support centre.

However, what I'm interested in is which sound card you're using? Is it the one that came with the machine? If so, it's got a very small chance of being able to handle recording guitars, especially if FX have been added like distortion or delay etc. If the soundcard is under extreme load, it's going to cause problems with the machine as the audio isn't being processed as fast as the software you're using would like it to, and therefore the result is choppy graphical anomalies.

Get back to me with this info and I'll see if I can help you further or determine the definite cause.

If you're using the soundcard which comes with your PC in the first place, you're out of luck - it's not a pro soundcard and is designed for normal music playback etc. - It's fine for gaming, listening to MP3's and DVD sound, but music production is far beyond its capabilities.

If you've bought a seperate soundcard, what is it? If not, you'll need to buy one I'm afraid. I'd reccommend an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 - it's no more than 50 GBP and is perfect for recording and music production.

When I first tried midi sequencing using high quality audio samples, both Cubase SX3 and Logic Platinum had the same issue as you, and the issue stopped when I got a new soundcard.
