Anyone know how to get rid of this message in WindowsXP after it saves settings and says windows is shutting down? "It is now safe to shut off your computer".

I believe it has something to do with the PC being ACPI compliant, and I've tried updating the driver in device manager, and it couldn't find anything.

I've tried doing a repair, and hitting F5 to choose from a list of drivers, but all it had was "Standard PC", and I'm looking for something along the lines of "ACPI Uniprocessor PC". ACPI is enabled in the BIOS.

    Any suggestions welcome.

Go into Device Manager and go update the computer type itself, like you would any other device. Use what's been provided by Windows itself and update that to ACPI Uniprocessor PC.

You may want to backup anything important before you do this.

That's the problem. All that is listed is "Standard PC". Nothing else.

I think you need to enter the CMOS setup and enable ACPI ?

I said earlier that it was enabled in the CMOS.
