Too hot? Can't be right.

Alright, now something really isn't right here, lemme explain.

I bought a Thermalright XP-90 with a 92mm YS-tech fan some time ago and fitted it, got my CPU temp all the way down from 50 to 25ish degrees. All was going well, combined with my graphics card fan, Spectrum fan card and 5 case fans my case was pretty cool. But lately something seems to be going wrong. Last night my computer was making strange noises, I checked my temp and it had gone up to 44 degrees, I wan't F@H or running major draining progs only BitDefender, Yahoo, Trillian, AIM, aMSN, Xfire, Peerguardian, NetLimiter.

I switched the computer off for the night, booted it up about 20 mins ago and my fans started making a terrible noise, but after being on for 5-10 mins the noise went away, leaving me with the slight hum I usually get, this is a few minutes after Windows XP SP2 finally decides to load up and log me in.

Any ideas what's going on here?

My CPU fan reads to be running at about 2365RPM give or take.
 
One thing you might wanna check is your dust. I had one helluva collection of dust bunnies in my main rig. I blew it out (not a total clean out) with some duster and got a 6*C drop in temps.
 
Right, strange readings here temperature-wise. If it's dust then shouldn't the whole case heat up instead of just the CPU? I ran Everest and the readings are as follows:

Mobo: 28 C
CPU: 34 C
HD 1: 31 C
HD 2: 21 C

HD 1 was undergoing a Virus Scan at the time of this reading.

Suggestions?
 
Well those temps are still pretty good really, so no call for alarm now, but I realize with all that cooling you'd expect a lower temp. Sounds like those fans were malfunctioning for a little bit, but they staighten out after a little bit right? Check to see if the problem persists when you boot up, if they make the weird noise are the fans spinning properly? Work load obviously has a major effect but also check to see that nothing is obstructing the airflow, cablels are a major offender. Also make sure the air can vent out properly too, don't back the case into the wall or anything (though I imagine you know all this anyway).
