I'm thinking of buying a computer with these specs:

    Sound:
Standards: Dolby Digital Live, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, High Definition Audio, Dolby Home Theater

    Interface:
    1 x audio - line out/headphones - stereo minijack 3,5 mm
    1 x microphone - in - minijack 3,5 mm
    1 x video - HDMI - 19-pin HDMI Type A
    S/pdif - NO

Is it possible that you'll get True Surround from this laptop by buying, say, Logitech X-540 5.1 Speakers, and if that is the case, how to hook them up??

    Thanks.

    Welcome to HWF :)

The Dolby Surround in a laptop is 2.1, and not 5.1. These speakers are all integrated, so you don't need to hook them up to external speakers.

Sure... but the question is.. can I hook up 5.1 surround speakers directly to the laptop and get True 5.1 Surround? The specs are boasting Dolby Digital Live & Dolby Home Theater, but I don't understand how one can hook 5.1 speakers up to a laptop with these outs...

Unless the laptop has three 3.5mm jacks, it won't work. That is, unless it has optical- or coax out (which most don't have).
