Ultimate Gaming PC Project Need Help

I attend a technologically inclined (notice I don't say a tech school straight out because they're all complete idiots) school in Connecticut and we are working on acquiring a grant from the school board to build an ultimate gaming computer as a publicity project for them to get more students. We have some general ideas on what we will be using but I would appreciate some help on what we can add to really boost the performance. After we are done we will put the entire computer on Ebay and set the reserve price for whatever the school granted us so that we can pay them back and any bids over that price will be ours. Woopee! We are going to use a Thermaltake XASER Full-T black case and Asus A8N-SLI mobo with dual BFGTech 7800GTX 512MBs OCed in SLI. Thats about as far as Ive gotten :D .

Isn't there a 4800+ now? I was actually thinking of using a Intel Pres XE. They got one to 4.25 easily with stock cooling so I figure with our hybrid cooling we could get it to at least 5.0

How do you plan on using a Intel pressy in an ASUS A8n-SLi board?
If it's going to be the ultimate gaming rig, i'd go for an Athlon FX-57 and maybe 2GB of OCZ Platinum Series RAM. Maybe a nice Water or Peltier based cooling system for the possibility to overclock.Fast hard drive, maybe SCSI?
But of course, this all depends on what the scholol is willing to grant.

If possible get a CPU from the AMD FX family, probably the 57 for max performance. Dual 7800's sounds about right, make sure you got good RAM.

Also what I've wanted to try is 4xSATA2 drives in a RAID 0 mode, so load times would be shit fast.

As for the cooling, I've always liked water cooling kits, you can make them look real neat, with glow in the dark solutions you can poor into the water to make it look really perty.

Good Luck!

Intel? Ultimate gaming PC?!

No, no, you'll only want the best for this. And thats the FX 57 chip as of now. Insanely expensive and very high performance.
