Use Intel WiFi 4965AGN as Wifi Stick

Hey

i have a broken Toshiba-Laptop and i'm kinda bored right now so i'm taking it apart.

There i found the Intel Wifi Chip.
Now, my question is, is it possible to use this Wifi Chip as a WiFi Stick?

The range of this Chip is huge and i think because of the 3 antennas there should be a better connection to the router ... so any suggestions?

when you say wifi stick do you mean wifi usb stick?
or do you mean like an access point?

one main problem is how are you going to power it?
 
yes with stick i mean usb stick

yeah thats what i thought too but a usb cable is supplying power.

i mean it should be possible, shouldn't it?
 
most wifi cards that are in laptops that i've seen usually go in a slot similar to memory in a laptop.
others i've seen have a female connection on the wifi card that connects into the male on the motherboard.
i don't know if we are on the same page here. i would like to see what your talking about out of curiosity.
perhaps you can supply pictures or tell us what model laptop you have.

The WiFi Card is the Intel WiFi 4965AGN (like RAM)

ok so i found out that your wifi card is actually decent and uses the mini pci-e connection.
its not powered by any usb port. instead its powered by the mini pci-e slot on the laptop motherboard. the 3 plugs are connections for your antenna.
there are 2 ways i found you can go with this.

1. mini pci-e to pci-e adapter slot card which can be used in a desktop $5.50

2. mini pci-e to usb $43

not sure if the desktop adapter needs the metal plate or anything else.
the picture looks deceiving so i can't tell sizes or how it exactly connects.
the usb one seems expensive imo.
i think if 5.50 is all it takes for a desktop slot card then that would be the way to go.
