While searching the web for a new phone service, I came across VoIP service offered by both vonage and AT&T.

Questions:
1) First, has anybody tried this service or know how it is?

2) It requires BroadBand. What does that mean?

1) I've called people who were on Voice Over IP and they sounded as clear as anyone.

2) You need a fast-speed internet connection because that is where the signal is going through: the internet.

Does this also infers that one can have DSL without a telephone,...
Because only then does VoIP makes sense,...

OR

The service only comes with a Broadband Cable connection.

Yes you can have ADSL without a telephone.

Yes you can have ADSL without a telephone.

In my area, you cannot order ADSL without first having phone service.
