Weirdest thing I've seen in a long time: upside down display!

My roommate tells me that, just last night while drunk, he hit some random keys on his keyboard and somehow his display turned upside down! How the hell is this possible?? What I'm saying is he now has to put his CRT monitor upside down -- it's really quite funny. He just showed it to me. So the question is 1.) how could he have done this?? and 2.) how do we fix it? lol.

does the the display appear upsidown in all video modes (resolutions, e.g. 640 x 480, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768) ?
it may restore the grafix if you uninstall the grafx drivers then reinstall the drivers, possibly installing new drivers

Does he have an nVidia card? If so there's options in the little tray icon for screen rotation.
it may have a utility to control the screens rotation anyway

Edit: what grafx chipset is it ?

Hold ctrl+alt and press the UP arrow key.

Try that.

Have some fun.

Wow..... that really works.. Pressing down key make it upside down and up key to get it in the same position....

Watch him go and turn the monitor upside-down... And his admin pride will make him say "That monitor is a special edition one... From Japan... They read things er... Upside-down..." *runs away*

Alright well that solved it! But why doesn't it do anything on mine?? I try it and nothing happens. And I tried it on my laptop as well -- nothing there either. :(

Hotkeys differ depending on your VGA, laptop model, or desktop manufacturer. On laptops usually it has something to do with the Fn key?

Mike

Yeah laptops often have an Fn (Function?) key as they have limited space so they have keys with multiple functions, they'll usually have some sort of brightness control, volume control, sleep function etc.

Yeah I have an fn key on the laptop. But it still doesn't work on my desktop for some reason, even though it worked on my roommate's desktop, who's the one that had the "problem". I built my desktop from parts, and I'm using a regular USB keyboard.
