Yes, it's true.. it DOES happen from time to time..

Anyway..
Because i have made what i thought was a wise decision from moving from an incredibly power AMD64 machine, to a laptop purely due to me having to move around the whole time, and the convenience of a portable computer somewhat starts to appeal to me.. so i buy a Toshiba Tecra A4, i've used alot of laptops, its been a great choice for me.. anyway..
this thing is a bargain.. 1.5GHz / 768MB DDR / ATI X300 128MB / DVD-RW 8X Dual / 15.4" XVGA Tru Bright Screen and a 6-in-1 card reader for £520 + 2hr battery time.
1 Problem...
Windows
yeh.. anyway, linux on a laptop just isn't going to happen - not at the moment, i'd realistically want a good Distro on it, ie not Debian or Redhat for laptops.
Anyway, ... after my little rant.. my laptop is being gay:
I'm almost 100% certain that its not hardware, i've checked the temperature, memtest 86, every normal diagnosis..
i think its just SP2 being gay after i did the usual first connection to internet update.. what u reckon?

Code:
Windows
when loggin into Windows, not all the startup programs load up, they have already started
as a service in Windows, however don't show.
If i then try and open any window to browse for example: My Computer or Network Connections
i am presented with a hour glass, the status of the hour glass does not change at all no
matter how long i leave it.
If i CTRL + ALT + DEL, and choose Task Manager and check on the processes running, all the
processes that should be running are running and Windows Task Manager reports no programs
or services as Not Responding, CPU / Memory usage is minimal, with no fluctuations.
If i End or Kill the Windows process/service: 'Explorer.exe' i am left with only visually
being able to see my wallpaper, nothing happens at all if i leave it for any length of time.
ie: no processes or programs report as being crashed, no fluctuations and no "This Program Is
Not Responding" messages.
If i then CTRL + ALT + DEL & choose to logoff, the computer logs off, but before so i am
given a several messages reporting that "A Process is not responding, End this program"
(with the graphical percentage bar (the count down of when windows itself will terminate
the process/service).
After this i am able to log out, re-login under the same username and password and Everything
loads up and presents itself with out any problems, i am able to access any folder / program
requiring the Windows Process 'Explorer.exe', and everything loads up correctly.
I have run a full system diagnosis of the hardware - fine (using toshibas utility).
I have run a full up to date Anti-Virus with no reports or suspicions of any viruses.
I have run a full deep system scan for any Spyware or Mal-Ware - none found.
I'm almost 100% certain that its not hardware, i've checked the temperature, memtest 86, every normal diagnosis..
