Well I recently, finally, after much work, and anticipation, from the entire world, got my Windows x64 rig up and running (and with sound, which is nice after 3 days of wating for the card). *cheers from the crowd* Well, the cheers kinda stopped when I figured out my wireless NIC does not support x64. :swear:. Well I visited trusty Newegg to see if I could find any wireless cards that supported the new, and better, OS. After hours of searching I gave up. But now there is a glimmer of hope. I can ask the smart people at Hradware Forums about it. This brings me to my question. Is there anyone here that has an x64 rig running with a wireless card. *crosses fingers*
 
If the drivers aren't out yet then you'll just have to wait a bit, x64 is pretty new right now so it will take a bit for companies to adjust for the demand. I assume you check the card manufacturers site just in case? Hold in there.
 
Well, I have looked on all the big name manufacturer's websites (even some small name ones) and none have x64 compatible drivers. The thing is though, all my other hardware, i.e. video card *cheers for ATI* and sound card *cheers for Creative*, have drivers for x64. And as far as Linux, I have it, but I need Windows too.

EDIT: Just remembered that there are few to no supported wireless cards on Mandrake, DAMN YOU MANDRAKE!
 
Thanks for the point! Don't worry dude, it won't be a long wait, just a couple weeks and there will be drivers to cure what ails you.
 
Okay so I don't know but I can't imagine they'd make you wait that long, at least motherboard companies are nearly always updating BIOS's and whatnot.
 
Just an example to show that there are companies that are required to update nearly constantly as new cores and whatnot come out. Wireless will be close by, assuming it want's to suceed, if not then it's loosing a customer base.
 
You realy should have waited a good few months after x64 edition. I wouldn't buy longhorn when it first comes out, neither XP. The best time to find bugs in software is ironically when it comes out of beta :rolleyes:. Expect to wait for drivers, you'll probably see critical hardware components having 64bit drivers, but wireless cards will follow suite, but longer.
 
Yea, I realize now that I should have waited, but when I bought it I was young and stupid :P. But the fortunate thing, is that x64 is based on the Windows Server platform, so it isn't completely new, like Longhorn will be.
