Wireless NIC STILL crashing my comp...

I posted this problem a few months ago in this thread and never really had it solved.

My problem is, I go on my computer, the wireless starts fine, gets good reception, but after a random amount of time (anywhere from 2 minutes - 12 hours) my computer will freeze completely, forcing a hard reboot. I have gone my computer- manage - event viewer but no errors are shown.

Welcome to Zonet That's my NIC. PLEASE give me any sort of advice.

Also, I recall reading that this might be incompatible with my mobo/chipset.... not sure if this is the case though.

The day I installed this component, my computer began to have this problem. If I unplug my NIC while my computer is not frozen, it will not freeze. Therefor, I have deduced that the problem is most likely the NIC.

I am assuming you have tried other USB ports? How about trying to work other USB devices in the problematic ports? Have you tried the adapter in someone else's PC?
 
Yes, I've tried swapping ports and using other devices in the same ports. I've tried it on my laptop which has had no problems.

I read somewhere that someone had a similar problem with this chipset and had to change IRQ ports or something. Does this sound like it might have an affect on my problem?

That's me done... :O
My next step would be to contact the manufacturer, if it is possible at all, and/or Newegg and see what they can do. If there was no mentioning of incompatibility when you bought the item then you have a good case to get a refund or to swap the item for another.

Is there someone you could borrow a USB adapter from to test?

One more thing - are you using a third party software to recognise and configure the adapter or is it handled by Windows?

Update: I noticed on the manufacturers site that there is a driver update from May '06. So if you bought the adapter before then it might be a good idea to try and update the driver(?)

If theres an IRQ confilct the best place to see wheter its there or not is device manager. If device manager see's no problem and this infomation came from a reasonable source then look through the IRQ ranges for your devices, and if you spot a confilct manually, just change it.

It does somtimes happen when adding new devices, although nowerdays, not so often.
