Worth it to upgrade?

Is the performance increase justifiable for the $170? Or could i upgrade the Mobo/CPU/RAM and increase performance much more?
 
You would see more of an increase if you upgraded you Mobo/CPU/RAM. Though it will be more expensive to upgrade those, it will be worth it. Especially if your into gaming.
 
lets say i kept the card with the intention of cross fire'ing it later down the road, what mobo/ram/cpu would be good to compliment the 687?0
 
Well if you're really into gaming, and you plan to OC then I would go with the Intel 2500k. If you aren't into OCing then I would just suggest the Intel 2400. As for RAM I would go with at least 4GB 1600MHz (I usually recommend 8GB 1600MHz, just because for the price you really can't beat it). And for the motherboard you have a couple of options, depends on what you're looking for. I usually recommend the ATX form factor, and if you plan on OCing you should get a(n) mobo that has at least 8 power phases.
 
Nah i don't plan on overclocking, i just recently found out what it exactly is and i don't feel safe doing it + i want my parts to last the longest they can. What part do i need to watch out for to make crossfire capable ?
 
Cool that would be very helpful im stumped. Since i have invested $170 into the GPU i want to compliment that with a crossfire ready motherboard. So id be looking to upgrade mobo/ram/cpu. For my psu I dont know the exact specs all i know is i got a 750 watt oem atx psu, i opened the case and it has 3-4 6 pinn connectors, idk if that helps determine anything but i got the impression it was fine since it handles 2 radeon 4850's in crossfire. My budget would be $200 give or take $2o high or low with more emphasis on the low. If you could help me out that would be great

For gaming you're going to want to look at a quad-core CPU. I would recommend the 2400 by Intel as it is only $10 more than the 2300.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115074 . This would really be the ideal upgrade for you, Intel is the way to go for gaming. http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=17921185 . I would recommend going with the full ATX Mobo rather than the Micro ATX, I also came up with this AMD build http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=17921205 though I'll say again I strongly recommend waiting and saving the money for the intel build.
 
The intel build with the Micro ATX mobo comes to $295.97 including shipping.
The intel build the the Full ATX mobo comes to $330.97 including shipping.
 
How much better would the intel build be? I can scuff out the 225 for the AMD build but the intel build is breaking budget. Would the intel build allow for 2 radeon 4850's to work? Also is that only 4GB ram? Can it be easily upgraded to 8gb with 25 more bucks?
 
the intel build can handle any GPU givin that it has enough power from the PSU. Yes that is only 4GB of RAM, yes you could easily upgrade to 8GB this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104246 or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231416 would suffice. The intel build is a lot better than the AMD build, Intel CPU's generally last longer than AMD CPU's. Plus intel drivers are generally better than AMD, also if you wanted a(n) full ATX mobo for the intel build, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131783 that would be a good one to cut down the cost. With an upgrade as serious as this you don't really want to skimp out on your mobo and CPU.
 
Okay i have decided to go with the intel build, Im going to pick up the full atx Mobo (incase i want to crossfire down the road). I am stuck on the original i3 dual core for $115 and the i5 quad core for $190. Id also like 8gb of ram.
