black screen... please help

    hi... i turned on my pc this morning and there is nothing on the screen, but i can hear winxp starting up. is my monitor or video card dead? plese help... thanks in advance.

    Not sure, but if you're overclocking, that tends to happen if you go to high. The only way to test for the video card/monitor is to swap out one for another that's in a known working state.

    First things first. Can you see the system POST the BIOS, or do you see nothing at all? If you don't get any display, make sure the monitor is plugged in to the wall and the video card, turned on, and the contrast/brightness is set properly. Then you might check the monitor cable and be sure it's not shorting out, and that it has no bent pins on the connector. If none of this does the trick, borrow a different video card and see if you have the same issue.

    well...i just reconnect everything and its seems to be working fine now. lol
