Well this is sort of a sequel to my cpu question earlier this week. Basically here's my two choices. RAM for both choices is 1gb of Corsair pc 3200 (xms if i go with amd) Hard drive will be a 7200rpm 80 gig for both choices. here's the tossup and where i need some direction. either an AMD Turion @2.2 ghz with an ATI X700 128mb or a pentium M (centrino) @ 2.0 ghz with an nVidia geforce 6800 256mb card. Which one is better for games? The difference in price between the two is about 270USD which i'm willing to spend only if the 6800/pentium M is MUCH better than the X700/Turion. I just wish i could get the 6800 with an AMD but every configurator i've seen has AMD chips with X700 gfx and Intel chips with nVdia chips. argh!!
although I won't recommend anything more intense than quake3 on a laptop... the 6800 will pummel the x700
Is that to say then that the X700 would be sufficient for lets say, above medium graphics at a good fps on most games? i'm not going to be playing FEAR or anything over the top , but i'd like to run Counter Strike Source and Guild Wars @ at least 800x600 with settings on high or 1024x768 on medium w/o anti AA or AF
For your gaming needs, then the X700 would b sufficient, so its up to you whether you want to spend the extra money for the 6800.
