Hey guys - I'm not so hot on the very top end of hardware at the moment and could do with a little advice:

    Recent upgrade!:
    BFG GTX 295
AMD Penom II X4 940 AM2+ (Bought for a free overclock up to 3.42ghz - very stable with no extra power)
And a clean and crisp install of vista 64 ult.

In 3d mark vantage i'm managing:
    P: 19155
    GPU: 16498
    CPU: 37055

Obviously im Ok with the P & CPU score, but i was expecting (according to reviews) a GPU score about 3k higher - Anyone have experience of this card? I know that after my overclock all the scores went up but am not really wanting to go any higher due to the higher power needs.

Do you recon that my CPU is still bottlenecking the cards full potential?

The CPU score is about twice as high as the test rig they used here?!?
(apparently a Core i7 965 @ 3750 MHz (3.6 + Turbo mode), this can't be right can it? - As much as i'd love it to be!

GeForce GTX 295 review - BFG

But no huge panic, as I can now bench GTA IV at 55fps and am playing smoooth finally :)

    TIA!

EDIT - next upgrade advice? Proabably memory to 1066?

Around 54deg C on full load with the stock cooler - but I have no other cooling in my case at the mo so I expect better.

    That's nice :)
I've always thought that CPUs from AMD went really hot.

Na it is one of the best in its class if you look at the power consumption of this between the intel x4's it beats them hands down - obviously not quite as powerfull also.

Each manufacturer has made its boobs- remember the intel duron?? :D

You mean the AMD Duron. I had one in my 1st laptop (Compaq 1214NE). I usually got many blue screens with that crap :D

Just pushed my cpu up to 3.52ghz, but only got a 75ish score increase for P,GPU,CPU from last time.

Anyone think my card is underperforming?
