I know I said about it sometime in january, but I have a definite update on my new rig :D

On thursday I'm gonna be going to check out the hardware and pick a case, and I should have it by saturday.

I'm not getting a 3500 as planned, but due to the insanely cheap price, I'm getting an AMD3000+ 64 socket 939, which is perfect for future upgrades, and a deluxe asus mobo, 8.1 sound, raid, wireless, the whole setup!

    Guess how much?

£140 with a new Coolermaster case! Trade Prices :D and other discounts

I'm gonna be selling my old rig to a friend for the price of my new set up, give or take a bit.

Any suggestions on the case? After my disastorous experience with the damn prescott, cooling is pretty important, which is why I was thinking coolermaster and a fat assed HSF?

    Nice Waffle :good:

Get a Artic Freezer 64 Ultra HSF (silent with some of the best air cooling possible)

If all thats costing you £140, i presume your going to be using alot of your memory in your new system thats in your current P4 rig??

Are you getting PCI-e graphics?? or is it AGP?

    - Just as a side note the AMD64 3000+'s are very good overclockers compared to the other AMD64's, you should no problem be able to overclock from 1.8GHz to 2.5/2.6GHz stable on air.

Yeh, I think I'm gonna be keeping three sticks of ram and sticking one 512 in my old case with perscott/mobo, get a crappy graphics card and hard disk and flog it on ebay for about 300 quid.

Easily cover my expenses for the new stuff.

That HSF looks decent, I'll consider it when I get the setup! :good:

    Oh. My. F*cking. God.

    AMD64 is the shiznit!!!

My boot up is 15 seconds, and using a slipstreamed XP w/ SP2 cd installed it all in 14 minutes 37 seconds.

Stuff Intel, addis you were right :D

Pictures coming after I've had some fun seeing what this beast can do.

My case temp is 23 degrees and my processor is @ 32!! eat that lousy prescott @ plus 60

    Glad you like it :)

All i can say Waffle is unless you really NEED it, don't overclock it as you don't need to :)
I've left mine at stocks as there's about 1 or 2 fps difference in games (10-15 if i overclock by 600MHz).. but still not enough to warrant the bother :)

And we will all be expecting you to start folding again :p

    - don't worry about the case to much, i've got a Silver Cooler Master and i've got all Black Optical / Floppy drives :)

Awesome Waffle, the 3000+ is a zippy little processor for sure. For only about $150 it's the best processor for the money in my book. Love the case too, that blue light is pretty cool. I've got a beige optical drive myself but hey, if it works don't knock it I guess. :good:
