I'm creating a wire, DB9 serial. Now, it needs to be fairly long, and to save money I am utilizing existing things I have around the workbench. I'm creating this using a 50' CAT5 and two adapters which are db9 Female to RJ45 Female. I"m trying to figure out the Pinouts for these two end connectors which will go at either end of the CAt5. Initially, I thought that the two should be done identically. Now, as I look at it, I'm wondering if the two should be mirrors of each other so that the pinouts follow correctly. Your input is greatly appreciated. :unsure:
Yes, it appears the 'mirror' idea is more correct. The YOST cable standard bears this out. Yost serial device wiring: RS232 on RJ45
