Hey everyone. I am new to the forum. hope i am posting in the correct place! I am going to build a new pc. having not built a new system in a while i figured i would get some advice b4 starting. below i have uploaded an image of all the parts i am planning on buying. if anyone can tell me of any compatability issues or maybe a better cheaper part... that would be gr8. thx
Welcome to HWF Don't get a 8800Ultra or GTX i suggest you get the 8800GT there is an super clocked version of it that EVGA sell and apparently it outperforms a 8800GTX and its only around £200 so you get a lot of bang for bucks. EVGA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB AKIMBO Superclocked GDDR3 OR save your self money and get a Point of View GeForce 8800 GT 512MB for like £146 and OC your self. Get this mobo instead MSI P7N Diamond nForce 780i SLi (Socket 775) its only £10 extra then the one you chose and it's one of best nForce 7 mobos out there. It also comes with a sound card but not as good as the one you chose. Also i think you should get a Q9450 rather then a Q6600 found a cheap Q9450 for you:Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450, S 775, 2.66 GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 12MB Cache, Retail One other thing is that memory is too expensive you should get this: G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-6400C5 (2x2GB) If your going to get the Q9450 then as for cooling an Arctic cooling freezer 7 pro will do the job. Hope that helps
ok i have decided what to buy... i think i will actually go with the p5nt 780i deluxe mobo. it seems like it supports next gen cpu. and has all the necessary capabilities to run a 8800gtx. If i am wrong pls tell me. PIMP i looked for that msi board but ebuyer does not supply them. as i am buying it all from ebuyer i will have to get this one. unless anyone can tell me of a better mobo out there for around 160 quid. Also there is a DDR3 mobo i have seen will this take DDR2 ram????! ntel DX38BT iX38 Socket 775 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard??? another option i have seen is this XFX nForce 780i 3 way SLI Socket 775 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard pls tell me which is better and if wich support the next gen 45nm cpu One other question. i have decided to get either the nzxt blackline or the Alpus twin engine or the antec 900. any advice will be appreciated as i am probably buying tomorrow. and when it comes to the case pls advice me on these criteria. Tidiness of cables, cooling, and general build quality. THX A BUNCH
regarding power supply i have these two options Arctic Power 700W PSU - With PCI-E, 4x SATA, 20+4, ATX12V, 8pin +12V Connectors - Retail Boxed - Ebuyer Coolermaster eXtreme Power 650W PSU - ATX 12V V2.01 120mm Fan 20+4pin - Ebuyer pls tell me if this is the rite thing to run q6600, 4gb ddr2, 8800gtx,
-That is a very very good mobo but that's more expensive then the MSI mobo that i recommended but shame you cant find it. -You seriously should consider on getting a 8800GT rather then a 8800GTX save your self a lot of money but you still get a lot of performance. NO it WILL NOT SUPPORT DDR2. This only supports DDR3 only if a mobo specifically says it supports both DDR2/3 but this doesn't say anywhere. For example this mobo Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R (Socket 775) It has the same spec as the Asus P5N-T Deluxe nForce 780i so i guess it's down to which brand you like, personally i would go for the ASUS and it's cheaper. Choosing a case is really down to taste and what you need out of it. nzxt blackline = Is a very nice looking case (in red), never used one before but it seems to have everything you would need from a case. Alpus twin engine = Personally i hate this case it's a dust collector lol but if you like it then it's your choice and i bet it's loud so i wouldn't get this case. Antec 900 = Very lovely looking case it's definitely the best out of the three in terms of cooling, you can add loads of fans to give you extra cooling. It has everything you need in a case, watch this video review by . I think you should go for the Antec 900 + Asus P5N-T Deluxe nForce 780i Hope that helps
Don't get the Arctic power, yes i understand it has an extra 50watt then the Coolermaster but it's not just about wattage. The Coolermaster is a much better PSU giving you better rails and power then the Arctic psu. So definitely go for the Coolermaster extreme 650W PSU and it will power your system very well.
