HI, WOULD ANY KIND PERSON BE ABLE TO HELP PLEASE?

MY DAUGHTER HAS A NEW DIGITAL CAMERA AND SHE HAS E-MAILED ME SOME PHOTOS, THE ONLY TROUBLE IS THEY ARE MUCH TOO BIG, CAN I MAKE THEM SMALLER? OR DOES SHE HAVE TO DO IT BEFORE E-MAILING THEM AGAIN?

    MANY THANKS

well, the pics can be resized either by you or your daughter or both, but, generally pics can usually only be made smaller as making pics bigger than they were intended to be unless you "sharpen" the image to increase the resolution, anyway, if you attach the pic(s), i'll shink them to the desired size with GIMP

BTW: how big do you want the pics (percentage of the original)

    BTW: no need to shout:chk:

Another tip for you and your daughter to make sending easier in the future:

Most digital cameras are set to take pictures at a high Mega-Pixel setting such as 4mp, 5mp and so on... High MP's aren't really needed for the basic customer. They're really required for high resolution printing for large projects and such...
The higher the MP the higher the resolution, thus resulting in a higher file size. 2 to 4MP really should be more than enough since it produces standard picture resolutions for a clear image and can easily be printed on 8x12 and 11x14 documents.

I'm afraid I'd have to disagree with you there scorps65. 5 megapixels should be the minimum. 8, 10 and 12 megapixels is excessive, but I wouldn't set the quality to 2mp.

Well, i believe its up to the user to the determine and is solely opinionated. I normally use 3MP.
Nice pictures by the way you seem pretty talented :)
