I think its out ??? anyways, the formula for Red Alert is much simpler than that of Tiberian Sun, so i don't think it will be as large of a falure that is Tiberian Sun 3 erm, (command & conquer 3.....) Anyways, i was wondering if anyone had played it yet ??
I got the game for about a few days now, and I can say that I'm really impressed by this game. The graphics aren't really next-gen, but that doesn't mean that it looks ugly. I did notice however, that the acting in cutscenes is quite dramatic, just like the previous parts of Red Alert. Anyway if you like the previous parts, you'll surely like RA3
hmm ... lol, according to the new eggers, red alert 3 is more of the same from tiberian sun. What i don't get is how do they not have a demo available ??? seriously. Newegg.com - Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 PC Game EA - PC Games
wow, i thought it was just talk... I cannot believe EA, they are absolutely ridiculous, you can only install the game 5 times, and then your done, thats it, the game is worthless after that... i cannot believe that. Slyck.com • View topic - Red Alert 3 Eases Up On DRM
That is just plane stupid by companies to only allow a certain limit of installing a game, utter stupidity  BTW the game has not got very good reviews because apparently it's RED ALERT 2 but with better graphics that's all really.
**Preamble: /Fred is not a fan of DRM, despite the following words** I had pre-ordered the game since I own every other C&C game on the market (legally even!). I picked it up and took it home only to find out that my product had shipped with an invalid serial. It shipped with four sets of 4 characters and a set of 3 characters instead of 5 sets of 4 characters. Upon further investigation, it was a known problem that occurred on a "small number" of units. *beh* I'm thinking their definition of small is "less than 50%". I had to email them and within a few days we had it sorted and I had a brand new product key. As for the gameplay and such: It feels like more of the same. I mean, that's not so bad because I've enjoyed the series, but its terrible because as a gamer I expect just enough change to hold my interest. So as a result, I've played about ten skirmishes and will likely not be playing much more. One thing I liked was that the game does not require a disc to play. In that way, EA came to their senses. I understand how it is frustrating that EA only lets you install the game five times, but it seems more like a theoretical problem. Most people will never notice the difference between five and infinite. Only a small number of gamers will ever need to install the game more than five times. To be fair, I think a better number would have been around ten. But let's be honest... if we all weren't used to letting our friends borrow and install our games, would this even be an issue?
Yes, i totally agree, ten would have been a much better option, but even then, its still a silly idea. What kills it for me is the fact that it will not be a game that i will pick up and play a year down the road or something, as i have more than likely uninstalled it at some point. Not needing the disk is a nice feature, but i dunno, i may be wrong, but isn't the point of having the disk so its harder to copy ?? yeah, i to have had all of the C&C series games up to tiberian sun 3, the expansion looks nice, but i think i will pick these games up down the road when i can get all of them in a pack for like $20-30.
In my opinion this is a stupid idea of trying to attack people who infringe on the copyright rules, it's an idea that will not work because people will just resort to getting it illegally and hack it, have you ever noticed why Oblivion never had a CD Key??? well because they came to their senses that what ever system they put in place to stop people handing the game to their mates or stop fraudsters will not work so they ended up making a game with no security feature and thus many people still bought it without downloading the illegal version (yes i know some still got it illegally), so my point is trust the consumer to by your product and use it legally as long as you produce a great product at a reasonable price with no security blocks, customers will not go for the illegal option.
just played the demo.... wow... i don't think its possible to me any more disappointed, i think if they put more time into the game and less into EVERYTHING else it would have been better... and they ruined the graphics, they are horrid...... sad days they are.
I couldn't agree more. I felt the need to play a C&C game after a very long time-out, picked up and played Generals a few times and enjoyed it. But I've never been much of a fan of the Red Alert series, something about it just didn't sit right with me. I downloaded the demo on Xbox Marketplace and fired it up, I could not believe it, the cast they have for the cut-scenes was laughable, (George Takei was the only decent one among them) hardly any acting going on whatsoever, with accents that made me cringe. And what I found insulting even was what they had done with the advisors, since when were strategy games about showing off clevage? Come on, it's just ridiculous what they've done with it. And the graphics were diabolical, we're supposed to be in the seventh generation of console gaming now, High-Definition graphics and near-realism. With games looking like Dead Space, Fallout 3 and CoD: WaW you'd think RA3 would look at least somewhat decent? Nope, it looks like they used the same graphics from a PS2 engine. The only saving grace about the game was the storyline, I thought it was a nice idea about history being so affected by the death of Einstein. But that was the end of the good parts of the game for me. As for the gameplay, it tried to be innovative and give all the units a purpose with their special abilities. But in the end, 10 tanks managed to take care of almost everything. And even after a few failed testing attacks, does the AI retaliate? Oh of course not, it just lets me build a bigger army and try again. Sorry, REALLY had to get that rant off my chest.
