I have a computer 4 yrs old. It runs on pentium 4, 2.4GHz processor on intel 845GVSR chipset platform. The BIOS does not have any temperature indicators. So i don't know the current temperature or the maximum temperature. No way to know whether the cpu fan is alright.I recently cleaned the heat sink, but not applied any thermal paste? Is this hazardous for the processor?Plz help..............:x::x::x:
YOU MUST HAVE THERMAL PASTE!!! Have you looked under hardware monitor or hardware heath or somthing like that for the temps?
Is your processor fan making noise ? If not, then leave it...Is you system running hot ? how many fans in your case?
no "thermal paste" isn't hazardous :chk:, it's certainly not recommended, as it doesnt allow the heatsink plate to fully come into contact with the processor roof. In most cases you'll find the processor to just run at a slightly higher operating temperature, slightly reducing your processors lifespan. As for viewing temperatures i would recommend using CPUID hardware monitor.
You definitely want to check those temps because it could be dangerous. Download CoreTemp and RealTemp and see how things are looking. Either way, get some thermal paste on there.
