I'm pretty new to the site, so if this is in the wrong spot, I apologize.
This was the first computer I was going to build, but something went wrong.
I plugged everything in right, but when I turned it on I couldn't get a display or even to the CMOS setup screen. The monitor works because I hooked it up to my laptop and it worked as a second monitor and still is. A little green light on the motherboard power button also lit up when I flipped the switch on the PSU. Also sometimes the video card would not start up

hi there, what's your system specs? does the computer make any beeps at all? what happens when you push the power button do the fans just spin up and nothing else?
have you checked your rest cmos jumper to see if it's not set to clear?
have you checked all your components are compatible with your board?
have you checked your ram? 1 module at a time in each dimm?
    have you tried another PSU?

I had that problem last time on my Asus 780i, the graphics card fan wouldnt spin when i booted and it wouldnt post into bios, turned out to be a faulty board.

what graphics card you got? what ram you got?

could also be a power supply fault. try another power supply could not be supplying efficent power. what power is your psu? is it new or old?

I don't see anythin wrong with your setup, everythin is compatible. You've got a replacement cpu & motherboard and your psu and Ram is all new. Can't see anythin else being the problem so i think its graphics card. try switchin graphics card. you also claimed in the first post "graphics card fan doesnt spin up" so I would try a graphics card. They are basically the main components needed for the bios to post. motherboard,Ram & graphics card. bios won't post without them.

also checked your motherboard to see if it has any ram compatability issues (doesnt like certain ram) which it doesn't so thats all good.
    also the processor is supported.

btw: have you also checked the reset cmos is not set to clear?
